Newcastle Charges Heavy Conditions at the Barron Viner Memorial

The Barron Viner Memorial at Lakes Beach on the Central Coast delivered everything competitors could ask for—huge swell, powerful surf, strong sweeps, and massive moves. It was a true test of skill, fitness and determination, with challenging conditions pushing every rider to their limits.

Newcastle Bodyboarding Club travelled down with a strong contingent of competitors and families, creating an incredible atmosphere both in and out of the water. The support from the beach was second to none, with parents, friends and club members cheering every wave and celebrating every success. It's this sense of community that makes representing Newcastle so special.

Despite the heavy conditions, our riders rose to the challenge, charging hard in every division. From committed late drops to critical manoeuvres in powerful sections, the level of bodyboarding on display was outstanding. Every Newcastle competitor represented the club with pride, sportsmanship and determination.

The results spoke for themselves, with an incredible 13 Newcastle Bodyboarding Club members finishing on the podium. An achievement like this reflects not only the talent within our club but also the commitment our riders put into training, mentoring and supporting one another throughout the season.

A huge congratulations to all of our competitors who took on the demanding conditions, and an even bigger thank you to the families, supporters and volunteers who made the trip and kept the Newcastle spirit alive all weekend.

A big thank you to NCCB, the Barron and Viner families, volunteers and everyone involved in delivering another fantastic Barron Viner Memorial. Events like these continue to showcase the strength of our bodyboarding community and provide invaluable opportunities for the next generation of riders.

We're incredibly proud of every Newcastle Bodyboarding Club member who pulled on the club colours. Here's to another memorable weekend of waves, friendship and success—we'll see you all at the next event!
