Round 4 Recap – Newcastle Bodyboarding Club 21.06.26

Round 4 served up a smaller swell, but what it lacked in size it more than made up for in fun. With playful conditions and plenty of workable waves rolling through, it was the perfect setup for the groms to shine. From the first heat to the last, the younger crew made the most of every opportunity, finding runners, throwing themselves at sections, and soaking up every second of water time.
The beach was buzzing all day with that classic NBC energy—sunshine, smiles, and a whole lot of cheering from the shoreline. The smaller surf created a great little arena for progression, giving the groms the chance to build confidence, test new moves, and really put their skills on show. It was one of those rounds where you could see the future of the club right in front of you.
And if the waves weren’t enough entertainment, the ocean had a little extra magic in store. Whales were breaching and jumping all day long, putting on an absolute show just beyond the comp area. Between heats, everyone was glued to the horizon, catching sight of tails slapping, big launches, and those unforgettable moments that make winter on the coast so special.
A huge shoutout also goes to the legends who kept everyone fed and frothing on the beach. Thanks to Haz for the delicious brownies, which absolutely hit the spot every single time, and to Ads Taylor and Coxy for holding it down on the BBQ all day and keeping the crew well fuelled from start to finish. It’s that kind of effort behind the scenes that helps make these days what they are.
Round 4 was a reminder that not every epic club day needs pumping surf. Sometimes all you need is a fun little bank, a crew of frothing groms, good food, and whales launching in the background to make it one to remember. 🤙
