Dolphins in the Lineup & Groms on Spin Cycle: Round 3 Recap
Round 3 rolled in with sunshine, contestable conditions, and nothing but good vibes from the get-go. The ocean turned it on again, with clean defined peaks stacking up out the back and running their way through to a fun, punchy shorey. It was one of those days where the energy in the water matched the mood in the tent —everyone frothing, everyone smiling.
To top it off, we had a pod of dolphins cruising through the lineup, weaving between heats like part of the club. It’s not every comp you get wildlife joining in, and it set the tone early—this was going to be a special one.
Out in the water, the waves had plenty to offer. Bigger sets stood up on the outer bank, with clean faces opening up for those willing to take the longer paddle. Some lines held all the way through, linking into a playful shorebreak that kept things interesting across all divisions.
One of the standout moments came from the U12 groms, who absolutely lit up the beach with a spin session that had everyone watching. Every single one of them stepped up—sending it, learning from the best, and showing off their style. It wasn’t just about competition; it was about progression, confidence, and having a go. Proper future talent on display!!!
Back on land, the stoke kept building with the arrival of fresh NBC merch. Hoodies, gear, and new season kit were getting snapped up, and the crew is already looking dialled for 2026. If you haven’t grabbed yours yet, now’s the time—jump on the web store and get around it.
Behind the lens, our photographer Jay was once again on point, always finding a way to get the shot. Whether it was end of heat camaraderie, powerful rolls, late drops in the shorey, or the groms spinning their hearts out, nothing slipped past unnoticed. Big thanks to the man who is consistently in the right place at the right time, capturing those moments that make the day.
Round 3 had it all—sun, surf, dolphins, and a crew that keeps showing up for each other. That’s what it’s about.
See you at the next one 🤙
