Perfect Waves & Big Smiles: NBC Grom Camp 2026

The Newcastle Bodyboarding Club Grom Camp delivered an unforgettable weekend, with perfect weather, fun waves and plenty of stoke for everyone involved.

With surfers aged 6 through to 19, it was awesome to see the older kids stepping up and showing the younger groms the ropes in the lineup — sharing tips, cheering them into waves and helping build the next generation of riders.

The whole club community came together to make the weekend what it was. A huge thank you to our club president Luke for the endless effort and organisation behind the scenes. From shopping runs for extra food and water, to preparing lunch on the beach after the Teams Challenge, firing up the BBQ for dinners and baking treats — everyone pitched in to make it a great experience for the kids.

The whole club kept the fun going off the waves too, with spotlight adventures, kayaking, beach touch footy, a cracking cheese platter and plenty of laughs and celebrations throughout the weekend.

A big thank you to our supporters D5 Bodyboard Shop, especially Johnny for his continued support and sharing his wealth of knowledge with the groms — plus the awesome prizes. Thanks also to Sarah aka Maid By The Sea for her ongoing support and capturing everyone in the waves, and to photographer Jay aka @the_catchalot for documenting all the special moments from the weekend.
